These circles account for 84% of the total telecom revenues in the country. More importantly, they bring connectivity and opportunity to even those parts of India where roads and electricity are yet to reach.
Disrupting the norm is not new to Indus Towers. After all, Indus Towers came into being by disrupting the norm.
Collaboration among competitors to share tower infrastructure was unheard of in the telecom industry, at the time. But that’s what we proposed. Following which, in 1997, Indus was set up as a joint venture between three fierce competitors - Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India and Idea Cellular— who combined their towers to provide shared telecom infrastructure to wireless telecom operators on a non-discriminatory basis. Today, Indus Towers is a game-changing market leader with the largest portfolio of telecom towers in India.

The telecom infrastructure industry today stands at 4.5 lacs towers with a tenancy ratio of 1.9. Meanwhile, Indus Towers is ahead of the curve with a tenancy ratio of over 2.3, resulting in huge energy optimisation.

Our constant endeavour is to not only provide an uninterrupted 24x7 service across India but to do so in the most green manner. Indus has already converted over 54% of our tower portfolio to ‘green sites’ – where no diesel is used. We are looking to progressively increase our green sites, shift from diesel to the grid wherever possible and find innovative solutions to achieve a zero carbon footprint. Our aim is to source at least 10% of our energy needs from renewable energy, and use this to increase telecom penetration in rural India, especially in parts not yet electrified.in parts not yet electrified.

Indus has saved India a spectacular US$3 billion in capital expenditure through sharing telecom infrastructure. Chief Executive Officer,
Bimal Dayal is the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of Indus Towers. Bimal Dayal joined Indus as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in February 2010 and since then has led the Company to achieve many milestones.
Bimal has worked with prestigious organizations like Ericsson in Sweden & Sri Lanka overseeing the entire range of ’Manage & Operate’ functions, including planning, O&M, Rollout/ Deployment and Network Assurance. In Sri Lanka, as Country Manager and Managing Director of Ericsson Telecommunications Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, he successfully steered the company to become the country’s number one player in telecom infrastructure. Prior to his current assignment, Bimal was with Qualcomm India & South Asia as Country Manager and Vice President - Business Development.
Bimal holds the alumni status for Harvard Business School, where he pursued the Advance Management Program in 2014.
Chief Operating Officer,
Tejinder Kalra is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Indus Towers. Tejinder has done his engineering from Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology and Executive Diploma in International Business, from IIFT. He brings with him over 26 years of experience in telecom and telecom services industry.
Prior to joining Indus, Tejinder worked with Nokia, where in his most recent role he was the Global Head for Bharti Business. He has worked with Nokia for over 13 years, and has been a pivotal part of their growth story and managed the end to end P&L ownership for Bharti Telecom business globally. He has vast experience in Strategy development, implementation and service delivery across geographies. Before his last role, he was the Sub-region Head for Central, East and Western Africa, in an earlier role where he helped set-up Nokia’s Airtel operations in Africa. Tejinder has been associated with Reliance Infocomm, Satyam Infoway, Sprint RPG India amongst other organizations in past.
Chief Financial Officer
Hemant Kumar Ruia is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Indus Towers Limited. Hemant is a Chartered Accountant, a Cost Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst and brings with him over 23 years of diverse experience across industries in various coveted organizations.
Prior to joining Indus, Hemant worked with Reliance Retail Limited as the CFO. He played a business partnering role across various brands with Reliance Retail – Reliance Fresh, Digital, Jewellery, Trends, Footwear and Reliance Markets. Before Reliance Retail, he was associated with Agro Tech Foods Limited (subsidiary of ConAgra Foods Incorporated), for over 7 years, as the Chief Financial Officer. He started his career with Larsen & Tourbo, and has since then worked with ICI India Limited and Reckitt Benkiser India, before moving to Agro Tech Food Limited. Hemant has extensive experience in Business Partnering, Funds Management, Information Systems, Legal and Secretarial and other aspects of leading the Finance function.
Hemant is a winner of the ‘Top 100 CFO Award’ for four consecutive years from 2013 to 2016 as well as the ‘CIO & Leader Business Impact Award for 2015.
Chief Sales & Marketing Officer
Shankar is responsible for Sales, Business Development, Emerging Businesses, Marketing Communications and Collections with a focus on Customers.
Shankar was one of the founding employee members and was a Regional Director until August 2015. Collective experience of over 24 years with a diverse set of multinational companies: Titan Industries, Diageo, Coca-Cola, Hutchison-Essar (Vodafone), Paramount Airways, Bharti Infratel Limited, Quippo Telecom Infrastructure (SREI Group)-President and Sixth Energy Technologies as President.
In his previous two companies, Shankar has dealt with Private Equity players, Merchant Bankers with respect to Debt and Equity arrangements for Sale and Lease-back of Telecom assets and developed in-depth business understanding of International Telecom and Tower Industry in Russia, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, Bangladesh and MENA region (Iraq, Algeria and Tunisia). He is a Graduate in Economics with Post-Graduation in Marketing & Advanced Management Program. He is an Alumnus of IIM – Bangalore and Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Chief Human Resource Officer
Pritpal S Kular is the Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) at Indus Towers Limited. Pritpal brings with him over 28 years of rich and diverse experience across various facets of Human Resources and Business Strategy. Prior to joining Indus, Pritpal worked with General Motors India as Vice President, Human Resources. Before that, he has held several leadership positions across global organisations such as Federal – Mogul, Max Bupa Health Insurance Company, Heidelberg Cement and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare. Over a span of 3 decades, he has worked extensively in creation of Employee Value Proposition, Employer Branding, creating coaching oriented culture and has also championed organisation design initiatives. He is a certified practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, a Certified Executive Coach and a Certified Assessor for Occupational Personality. Pritpal is a member of the Advisory Board at Chandigarh University and is also an Advisor to “Dockabl” a start-up in HR. Pritpal is a Commerce graduate from Punjab University, with Post Graduation in Personnel Management from Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar as well as Post Graduate Diploma in HRD from National Institute of HRD, Madras.
Chief Supply Chain Management Officer Indus Towers
Anil Gupta is the CSCMO (Chief Supply Chain Management Officer) in Indus Towers.
Anil has been Indus since inception in varied roles. He joined as Circle Head in Rajasthan and since, has led the Energy SBU and managed a large portfolio of Telecom passive infra as Regional Head of North Region with the responsibility of 4 Telecom Circles P/L, business & operation management.
Anil has over 20 years of experience and has previously worked with companies like AV Birla Group, KK Birla Group, Vedanta and Bharti Airtel before joining Indus. He has diversified experience in supply chain, project management, heading circle business and energy management.
Anil is a Mechanical Engineer from University of Rajasthan and has done MBA in Finance.
Chief of Legal & Company Secretary
Mr. Rajinder Kumar is the Chief of Legal, Corporate Laws and Company Secretary (CLCS) of Indus Towers since August 2008. His academic qualifications include B.Com. (Hons), LLB, FCS, DLL and an MBA. Mr. Kumar has valuable experience in successfully managing entire legal functions, including litigation, compliances and corporate affairs / laws and major contract negotiations in telecom, ITES, manufacturing and service sectors. He has dealt with joint ventures and foreign collaborations, mergers and amalgamations, restructuring of companies, IPOs, corporate governance and related matters in Indian as well as multinational companies from Japan, Korea, USA, UK and other European jurisdictions. Prior to his current assignment, Mr. Kumar was working with Exl-Service, a US based company as Vice President-Legal and Company Secretary.
Chief Technology Officer
Manoj Kumar Singh is Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Indus Towers. He is heading Technology as well as the Regulatory Affairs & Sustainability function. He has been associated with Indus since inception. He brings with him over 28 years’ experiences in techno commercial projects and end-to-end deliverables of the project/ campaign, analysis of client requirements, estimations, risk, metrics identification, workforce management & effective utilization of teams.
He represents Indus in various Industry Bodies ie. TAIPA, COAI, FIICI, CII etc. He is driving the policy advocacy agenda for telecom infra providers. He is also Chairman of Energy Committee of TAIPA and is actively engaged with the industry and the government for Green Telecom Policy & reducing carbon footprint. He has been an anchor in making Indus the first telecom infra company to release Sustainability Reports since FY13-14. He is a coveted speaker on Green Energy in Indian Telecom space & has represented Indus at various international forums.
Manoj is also spear-heading the Indus’ CSR journey and the company has been recognized & awarded with ‘Annual Change maker award’, ‘National award for excellence in CSR & Sustainability for its CSR agenda and programs.
Prior to Indus he has worked with SRF as Associate Vice President & Kanoria Chemicals as General Manager. He has led various Green Field Power Projects & has extensive experience in Technology innovation.
Manoj holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with Leadership Program from Harvard & Management Program in Public Policy (MPPP) from ISB.

Vinod Sivarama Krishnan has over 24 years of Business and Technology Leadership
Through stints at Hindustan Unilever, General Electric and Wal-Mart India, Vinod has had the opportunity to work with and learn from some of the best Business and IT leaders and partners both in India and globally. Leading an e-Commerce P&L has helped him develop a unique outside-in perspective to using technology to solve business problems.
Over the years, Vinod has been recognized and awarded for his understanding of the key drivers of business, his partnership with business leaders and ability to identify and execute on digital transformation opportunities. He is a regular panelist at Business and CIO forums and a contributor to industry journals on technology topics.
Vinod holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology, Surat and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
Chief of Internal Audit & Assurance
Sarabhjit brings with him over sixteen years of professional experience. Prior to joining Indus, he was associated with Deloitte as a Senior Manager delivering Internal Audits, Risk Assurance, Sarbanes Oxley Compliances, Business Process Evaluation and Process Redesign for clients across Telecom, Technology and Manufacturing industries; some of which were Bharti Airtel, Unitech Wireless, Verizon, VIOM Networks, MTN, Grameen phone, Hewlett-Packard etc . His responsibilities included evaluation of design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, identifying areas for control improvement, assisting clients in institutionalizing processes and control frameworks along with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Compliance & Risk Consulting services. In addition, he helped clients to improve and optimize their business and IT process by evaluating their existing process for control or design gaps, design the controls framework and help define & implement business or IT process at the desired maturity level. Prior to Deloitte, he was associated with Oracle Corporation as a Senior Auditor – Sarbanes Oxley Readiness. His key responsibilities at Oracle included Risk Assessment Analysis and Sarbanes Oxley Compliance for Oracle’s various internal processes for 89 countries worldwide.
Sarabhjit is a Chartered Accountant from Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and has completed his Bachelor of Commerce from Delhi University. In addition, Sarabhjit is also a Certified Internal Auditor from The Institute of Internal Auditors, U.S.A and an Information System Auditor fromInformation System Audit and Control Association, U.S.A. He has also done ISO 27001 LA certification.

This award was conferred under the prestigious Bharti ChangeMaker Awards 2017 by Bharti Foundation, the CSR arm of Bharti Group. To present the “National Environment Conservation & Protection” we presented our CSR project with TERI, to light rural villages and homes through high efficiency Solar LED Lanterns under Lighting a Billion Lives Program (LaBL). Indus won the prestigious V&D 100 Top Telecom Infra Leader 2016 at the CyberMedia ICT Business Awards 2017. The 24th ICT Business Awards night is the biggest and oldest get together and recognizes and felicitates industry leaders and visionaries across IT and Telecom segments for achieving the highest revenue in 2016-17 fiscal based on the survey by Voice&Data and CyberMedia. These awards are based on V&D 100 survey and revenue & market share is the parameter. The 2016 study results are a culmination of a research exercise put together by Voice&Data, the telecom publication of CyberMedia.

Indus Towers Teams recently concluded Lean Six-Sigma Case Study Presentation Contest–2017, organized by National Institution for Quality and Reliability (NIQR), Bangalore. NIQR was incorporated with the objective to bring entrepreneurs and professional in the field to the higher level of knowledge, thereby enabling them to be worthwhile in the society and ultimately contribute to the WAR AGAINST WASTE. Indus won the 1st and 3rd prizes in Kaizen category, along with the Quality Control Circles (QCC)awards. The QCC projects earned lots of applause from both the judges as well as the audience, and was recommended to be nominated at Government forums.

Indus Towers has recently won project on Improvement in DG MTBF in two prestigious forums. The project was declared Runners up in the QualTech™ Prize for Process Improvement at the 27 Qimpro Convention, held at Mumbai. Qimpro Awards were conceptualized in 1989 by Dr. J. M. Juran, the Quality Guru, to recognize individual excellence in quality management. The nominated projects undergo a rigorous evaluation and are selected by three eminent panels of judges; each chaired by the respective Qimpro Platinum Standard of the previous year. Indus was competing with organizations Reliance industries, Godrej and Boyce, Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd., Hindustan Unilever, Coca-Cola and others. Indus received the “Largest Independent Tower Company” award at the CMAI and Star News’ 5th National Telecom Awards 2011. This was the second consecutive year that Indus won this award. The award recognizes Indus’s role in providing uninterrupted mobile telecommunication facilities to ordinary citizens.
Indus is the proud recipient of “Enabling 3G services for the Nation Award”, a project under the category of Telecom at the Essar Steel-CNBC Infrastructure Excellence Awards 2011 . The award recognizes Indus for its speed of delivery services for 3G. Indus took up the ambitious task of hosting 3G equipment on 18,000 sites in less than six months. Today, it hosts more than 24,000 base stations servicing 3G, almost 80 per cent of the total installed in the country.
Indus Towers won the prestigious “ IBM - The Great Mind Challenge for Business“ for the Most Strategic Enterprise. Indus proposed the ‘Smart Tower’ framework which creates a touch and feel layer around the tower through multiple modes of automation and analytics. Indus was recognized for strategically solving the challenge of running a huge distributed asset base in a large country and providing unmatched certainty on its infrastructure.
Indus won at CMAI INFOCOM National Telecom Awards 2010. The award was presented by Dr JS Sarma, Chairman TRAI and Shri PJ Thomas, Secretary DOT and Chairman Telecom Commission. The award identifies and recognizes outstanding contributions to the ICT sector for building a National Telecom Network and thus providing an effective means of communications.
Indus bagged the Top Telecom Tower Company award at the Voice & Data 100 Awards 2010. The award recognized Indus Towers as the leader in the telecom tower space providing uninterrupted mobile services to ordinary citizens.
